Scientific and methodical approaches to determining the center-orientation of financial conglomerates with the factor and cluster analysis

Involving Ukraine in the globalization of the world economic and financial system makes the transfer of most of the positive and negative effects of the external world in Ukrainian conditions that will have consequences for the development of the domestic financial sector. It is important to note that the presence of foreign capital affects the stability of the banking system and the efficiency of its operations. The process of entry of foreign banks on the domestic market of banking services is controversial. It is associated with the activation of financial conglomerates types of “bancassurance” and “allfinanz”, aimed at expanding its own branch network that stay in a constant search of new markets. In addition, the powerful financial conglomerates have their own competitive advantages and significant financial resources.
Instrument of Improvement or Degradation: Contemporary University Rankings and Their Problems

The paper is devoted to the analyses of current situation in the area of theory and methodology of university rankings. The author identifies three main problems in this area. First of all, it is the problem of relation of measurable and non-measurable dimensions of university activities and the relevant limitation of possibility to use ranking as the universal technology of evaluation. Secondly, it is the relations between objective and subjective data in elaboration of relevant indicators. Thirdly, is the problem of necessity of exclusive and authentic methodology for university ranking or possibility to apply universal methodology. The results of main international and Ukrainian university rankings in 2017 are also presented.
Gravity model analysis of client-facing choice (in terms of probability evaluation of clients’ visits to banks)

The crisis of the banking sector caused a massive outflow of bank customers. Due to unfavorable situation in the currency and credit markets – exchange rate, undermining the stability of the course of the national currency, outflow of deposit funds, mass closing of accounts in banks – financial institutions went bust. Public confidence in the banking sector has decreased, and as a result – the banks have begun to lose customers in large numbers. In order to keep up, to survive in conditions of uncertainty, risk, and increased competition, most banks choose development strategies which are aimed at improving customer service, since customer choice and confidence in the bank are the key of successful banking business. That is why all aspects of the bank’s activities should be aimed at creating a client base of the bank, sufficient to ensure profit as a result of its activities, to maintain the stability of the client base in the development of the bank. In this regard, the development and implementation of a strategic direction for managing the customer base of the bank deserves more attention than not disposable customer selection. The client base and client selection should be considered as ordinary management objects that require planning and forecasting using pro-technology and modern mathematical tools. Before the management of the bank there is a problem: how to stay in the market and not give up their positions to competitors and attract new clients’ attention to the bank. A solution to this problem can be found by using gravity models.
Is Proxemics Influencing Leadership?

In this paper, we have no intention to focus on leaders/leadership, on its relationships and debates with man-agement. Our scope is to understand if one major component of the nonverbal communication, i.e. the prox-emics, has an influence on leaders/leadership and to highlight the measure of it. Passing through the Fiedler’s Contingency Model, as an example, we may say that the charismatic and effi-cient leader is focused on the on the tandem task-relations. What needs to be kept is the fact we are interest-ed in the existence of a Leader, not of a good leader. It is a contradiction in terms. In business, but also in politics, the leader is the person who dominates and convinces people around him to work, or to do something for a common goal. Especially politically speaking, in these years it is needed a change of leadership to be accordingly to the new realities and major challenges and defiances of today’s world. Based even on my own experience, studying the activity and behavior of some leaders of our era and papers regarding this main issue, we concluded that the proxemics is influencing leaders/leadership, in a right measure for each leader, but significant for his actions and the state of leadership.
Academic integrity: global context and national needs

The article shows the influence of transformation processes in higher education to lower academic standards, changes and deformation in ethical field of global and national higher education. We considered the genesis and modern standards of academic integrity, especially their support in the European region, the real state of the academic culture of all participants in Ukrainian educational and scientific process. Authors analyzed the role of the Law of Ukraine “On Higher Education” (2014) in creation a system to counter the further spread of academic corruption. The importance of global education community was traced to confirm the values, norms, traditions, practices and intentions that form the moral core, shape individual and collective reputation of the Ukrainian academic community.

Business Ethics in Providing Financial Statements: The Testing of Fraud Pentagon Theory on the Manufacturing Sector in Indonesia

The article studies the causes and consequences of manipulating the financial statements of companies, identifies the most influential drivers of fraudulent reporting actions by employees and business owners. This research aimed to examine the effect of fraud indicators in fraud pentagon theory against the detection of fraudulent financial reporting on manufacturing companies. Independent variables in this research were variable pressure proxy by financial stability, external pressure, and financial target, opportunity proxy by nature of the industry, rationalization proxy by total accrual, capability proxy by the change of directors, and arrogance proxy by ownership by management.

Combating Unemployment through Social Entrepreneurship in the European Context

Сonsideration of the dynamic changes from the socio-economic environment, social entrepreneurship plays an essential role in the labour market as it creates new jobs, contributes to the improvement of the economic and social position of vulnerable groups in society, and stimulates economic development. The financial crisis from 2008 and the current health crisis, which generated a significant economic crisis and the specific social context existing in each member state, constitute the leading causes that led to a slow convergence rhythm of the labour market at the European Union level. Unemployment and non-employment have a significant impact on the people affected by poverty and the disadvantaged people. A coherent, systematic and sustainable approach to social entrepreneurship is required to generate significant change at the European level.
